Services for Small Mammals

Essential Care for Your Small Mammals

Whether you are the owner of a ferret, chinchilla, guinea pig, or any other small rodent, we would be happy to welcome them to Clinique Vétérinaire Plateau Mont-Royal.

What are our small mammal services?

At our clinic, we offer basic services for small mammals, including health exams and vaccinations.

Why does my small mammal need regular health exams?

Small mammals, such as ferrets and chinchillas, may hide health issues due to their survival instinct. An annual health exam allows us to quickly detect signs of potential illnesses or problems and take necessary preventative measures to ensure their well-being.

When should I have my rodent examined by a veterinarian?

A first exam is recommended as soon as you adopt your rodent to check its overall health and identify any potential behavioral or physical issues. Regular follow-up exams will help detect any changes, whether related to appetite, coat condition, or behavior. Preventive care is essential for a long, healthy life.

My small mammal never goes outside. Why should it be vaccinated?

Even if your small companion doesn’t go outside often, there are still risks of disease transmission, particularly for ferrets. Vaccination helps protect them from serious infections that could occur, even in a domestic environment. Feel free to consult our team to determine the necessary vaccinations for your pet.
